Halloween is just around the corner. Or, if you are reading the archives at some far future date, possibly almost a year away. Whichever is the case, it is never too early to plan your next Halloween date. Dating on Halloween is a little tricky because you are basically expected to do something special for the holiday. However, if you are creative, that is just an opportunity to have a unique date that really impresses your partner. The following are 5 great ideas for Halloween dates.

1. People Watch from Home

This date is perfect if you or your date live in a location that gets lot of trick-or-treaters. All you need to do is buy a night's worth of candy, rent an old, scary movie that you have both seen before, and settle down to watch the movie on a comfy couch that is near the front door. The idea of the date is that you spend the night admiring the parade of costumes that are literally walking up to your front door. The movie is only there to entertain you during quiet moment. Hours will fly by as you discuss your favourite costumes, give extra candy to the kids that really went all out, and take pictures of the best outfits.

2. Complimentary Costumes at a Halloween Party

If Halloween party wasn't the first thing that came to your mind when you thought of Halloween dates, you really need to get out more. Of course, simply going to a Halloween party isn't what makes a date memorable. What makes it truly memorable is wearing costumes that match thematically.

In a real sense, the party isn't the date. It is just the opportunity to show off you brilliant creation. The real date is the days, weeks, or maybe even months you spend planning ideas, shopping together for costume pieces, or even sewing costume pieces together from scratch. The best costumes are ones where you both love the subject matter and where the costumes work much better as a pair than alone.

3. Visit a Haunted House

Let's be honest for a moment. Once you are an adult, haunted houses don't really hold up. You know all the scary things are fake and you pretty much know what to expect. That said, any good haunted house, ghost walk, or similar show will still get you to jump out of your skin a little. And that is the main reason to visit one. It is the perfect excuse to hold hands or grab your date. Effectively, a haunted house is basically a scary aphrodisiac. It gets your heart rate and adrenalin pumping and usually ends up with you embracing your date. How you spend the rest of the night is entirely up to you.

4. Go On a November 1st Shopping Spree

Technically, this date happens the day after Halloween. If you and your date really enjoy Halloween and all the costumes, props, and other scary stuff that goes with it, you will absolutely love visiting a Halloween store the day after Halloween. That is the day that every Halloween store sells all remaining merchandise at massive discounts. It is the perfect time to shop for next year's decorations and costumes. As long as you are both willing to get up a little early, you can spend a few hours together finding great deals while getting to basically enjoy one more day of your favourite holiday.

5. Go to the Movies

You are probably wondering why going to the movies is a Halloween date when you can do that any day of the year. It isn't if you enjoy Halloween. However, if you don't really enjoy Halloween, it is the perfect day to watch a movie or three. Since most kids and parents are out trick-or-treating, the movie theatre will be a lot more empty than usual. You can get the best seats in any movie you've been wanting to watch and should be almost entirely insulated from the holiday. Sure, you can stay home and watch Netflix, but that risks kids coming to your door and begging for candy. In a dark theatre you can watch a movie that has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween and simply pretend that the holiday doesn't exist. There are obviously other places you can go to flee the holiday, but since this is one of the few days of the year that you can watch a movie with almost no kids around, you might as well take advantage of that.
